Nuno Neck Cowls handmade with love, merino wool and silks

One of my favourite accessories for late autumn through to early spring.  I wear mine both as a neck warmer and an ear warmer in the cold months. They are ideal accessory to wear when out walking or participating in an outdoor pursuit.  My daughter who lives in the Middle East wears hers in the evening when she goes camping.

Each cowl is individual, the main wool being merino. I also use Alpaca which I either fully blend with the Merino wool or as an embellishment. The alpaca wool is locally sourced coming from the Llama Park in Sussex or the Ashdown Forest area.  As well as using the Alpaca in its natural colours I also dye it to match the fibres and silk I am using. I also sometimes dye the silk fabric I am going to use. One size approximately 22in circumference and 10in height.  They retail at £20.00.

Felted soap is a unique and natural product where wool fibres are wrapped around a bar of soap, then gently agitated with warm water to form a snug, textured casing. This wool acts as a washcloth, offering mild exfoliation while the soap lathers beneath it. As you use the felted soap, the wool gradually tightens around the shrinking soap, extending its life and creating less waste. Wool is naturally antimicrobial and biodegradable, making felted soap both practical and eco-friendly. Once the soap is gone, the wool casing can be repurposed or composted. Perfect for gifts or a unique addition to a bathroom!
Supporting British wool means embracing sustainable, local craftsmanship that directly benefits farmers, artisans, and the environment. British wool, sourced from native sheep breeds raised across the UK, is known for its durability, natural warmth, and unique textures. It’s a renewable, biodegradable resource, making it an eco-friendly choice for clothing, crafts, and home goods.
By choosing British wool, you’re helping to sustain traditional farming and shepherding practices while reducing carbon footprints associated with long-distance imports. Supporting this local industry also preserves biodiversity by encouraging the raising of native sheep breeds suited to the British climate and landscape.
